ARTIST STATEMENT
My work investigates the mystery of female identity and the diverse psychological states that constitute a young woman. Each image is a direct response to my personal emotive experience. I find the feminine experience enigmatic yet frustrating, therefore my work reflects such angst and self-conflict.
In my paintings and photographs, the characters act as surrogate selves sharing in a pursuit of insight and solace. The images explore themes of idealized beauty, women and nature, conventional femininity and the psychological discord involving these ideas. I want my work to resonate with disillusion and fear, yet speak of beauty and surrender. |
